News from the 14th edition of the KID Summer School!

A rewarding week in Nice for the 14th edition of the KID Summer School! ☀️

During the Summer School, our PI Francesco Lamperti presented FINDings from two papers developed within the ERC-funded FIND ERC Project. 📚

The first, co-authored with Giorgio Tripodi, Fabrizio Lillo, Roberto Mavilia, Andrea Mina, and Francesca Chiaromonte and published in Environmental Research Letters, investigates the development and diffusion of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies. Results show that research on CDR generates substantial social value through significant, positive, yet heterogeneous knowledge spillovers—both within science and from science to technology, policy, and the media: https://lnkd.in/d_PawGb3

The second paper, co-authored with Giorgio Tripodi and Linda Sabbatini and published in Business & Society, examines the role of fossil fuel incumbents in the emerging carbon sequestration industry. Combining International Energy Agency data on carbon capture projects with corporate, financial, and patent records, we reconstruct and analyse the global network of companies active in the industry. Results show that fossil fuel companies remain central to carbon capture and storage; by contrast, they are largely disconnected from emerging direct air capture projects: https://lnkd.in/dqDuJ59E

The quality of the presentations and the discussions made the Summer School a nice opportunity for scientific exchange and the development of new research ideas. 💡

Many thanks to Sofia Patsali, Michele Pezzoni and Francesco Quatraro, as well as to the speakers and supporting institutions, for making this edition such a success.
Looking forward to the 15th edition! 🚀
